French Toast
A simple yet delicious breakfast recipe featuring bread dipped in a rich egg and milk mixture, seasoned with optional spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Ingredients
- 6 thick slices of bread
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- salt to taste
Directions
- In a shallow dish, beat together egg, milk, salt, spices, and vanilla.
- Heat lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium to medium-high heat.
- Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides. Place in pan and cook on both sides until golden.
Notes
- The best bread is dense and rich, ideally challah bread or brioche. French bread works as well.
- Serve hot with maple syrup and/or butter
