Garlic Bread
Versatile and easy garlic bread recipe that works as a side for any dish. Works with many types of loaves, and can be made extra cheesy at your leisure.
Cook time: 30 minutes
Yield: 1 loaf
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 4 fat garlic cloves, grated
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup flat leaf parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- Pepper
- 1 baguette
- 1/2 lb fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced (optional)
Directions
- Heat oven to 400°F.
- In a small bowl, stir together butter, garlic, parmesan, and parsely. Add salt and pepper.
- Cut slits into baguette, 1 inch apart. Do not cut all the way through. Place bread on foil and spread seasoned butter on top and into each slit.
- Wrap baguette in foil, place on baking sheet, and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap the top, leave the bread on the foil. If adding mozzarella, using an offset spatula or spoon, gently open each slit and tuck a piece of mozzarella in. Return to the oven, bake until crisp on top, another 5 minutes.
Notes
- The butter can be made 2 days in advance; let come to room temperature before using.
