Popcorn
Easy, buttery, crunchy, perfectly popped popcorn. Made on a stovetop with no special tools required.

Yield: 1 large bowl
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons peanut oil or ghee
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 1/2 teaspoon popcorn salt (or finely ground kosher salt)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (optional)
Directions
- Place oil, popcorn, and salt in a large metal mixing bowl. Cover with heavy duty aluminum foil and poke 10 slits in the top with a knife.
- Heat bowl over medium heat, shaking constantly until popcorn finishes popping, approximately 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and remove foil. Stir in any salt on the side of the bowl.
- Melt butter in microwave and drizzle over popcorn.
Notes
- Recommended equipment includes an 8-quart heavy-gauge metal bowl.
- Shaking the bowl constantly is essential for even heating without burning.
- Stop popping when you wait about 8 seconds between two kernels popping.
